The road to becoming a Naturopathic doctor:

• Minimum 7 year post secondary education
  • Prerequisites – 3 years of pre-medical sciences at a University with a cumulative grade point average 3.00 on a four point scale. Prerequisite  courses: biology, biochemistry, chemistry, organic chemistry, introductory psychology and humanities
  • 4 year full time program in an accredited school of Naturopathic medicine

• 4,500 hours of classroom training and 1,500 hours of supervised clinical experience
  • Training includes basic medical sciences, physical and clinical diagnosis, lab diagnosis, orthopedics, naturopathic assessment and the 6 major naturopathic disciplines: clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, homeopathic medicine, physical medicine and lifestyle counseling.

• Must pass NPLEX board exams (written after 2^nd and 4^th year). NPLEX is the standard examination used for all Naturopathic doctors in North America

• Continually meet Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits on an ongoing basis

• Licensed and registered with the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy-Naturopathy (BDDT-N)
